Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boisse\u0301zon, and the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, graced a reception hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People\u2019s Republic of China, Mr Liying Zhu, yesterday evening at Belle Rose, to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n

The Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, Members of Parliament and other eminent personalities were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n

Toasts were raised by the dignitaries to celebrate the momentous celebration of the People\u2019s Republic of China. The eminent personalities also visited a photo exhibition showcasing China\u2019s historical moments.<\/p>\n

In his address on the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador rejoiced that Prime Minister Jugnauth, the Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, and Members of Parliament have joined the People\u2019s Republic of China in its celebrations, which he emphasised, is testimony of the fact that Mauritius cherishes its relations with the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the still ongoing post COVID-19 recovery of the world, the Ambassador commended Mauritius for hitting an economic growth of 8% adding that the People\u2019s Republic of China is on its part expecting an economic growth of more than 5%, while maintaining its key role as a global economic driving force and contributing up to 30% of global economic growth.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the People\u2019s Republic of China has been overcoming several challenges and difficulties over the last decades. China\u2019s long-term vision of sustainable development was underpinned by the Ambassador who also pointed out that its modernisation endeavour revolves around three key principles namely, innovation, reform and openness whilst focusing on quality, resilience, growth and greater openness.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Ambassador recalled that China believes that the world community is interlinked, thus a global solution is required for global challenges and has to this effect recently released a white paper on its proposals, actions on building a global community of shared future for humanity.<\/p>\n

As far as the Indian Ocean Region is concerned, he indicated that the People\u2019s Republic of China advocates for security, stability and cooperation to promote for the development of the whole region.<\/p>\n

Concerning Mauritius, he added that the ties shared by the two countries are enhanced through the mutual political trust, flourishing cooperation in economic, social and culture spheres, and collaboration on matters of mutual interest on the international font.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Chinese Ambassador called for enhanced collaboration between the People\u2019s Republic of China and Mauritius for a better future for both countries, recalling that as China intends to roll out a series of measures geared towards promoting industrialisation, economic diversification, agricultural modernisation and the fostering of talents in Africa, new perspectives of cooperation will open up for Mauritius and the People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n
