Africa-Press<\/a> – Mauritius<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>An art competition on the theme \u2018Women for Peace\u2019 and accentuating the role of women in the peacebuilding process was launched, this morning, by the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, in Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

The competition is a joint endeavour of the Ministry with the Rotary Club of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in the context of World Peace Day 2021 which is observed globally on 21 September. The president of the Rotary Club of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Mr Arvin Authelsingh, and other Rotary representatives were present at the launch event.<\/p>\n

Minister Teeluck, in a statement, welcomed favourably this particular collaboration with the Rotary Club of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill which, he indicated, aligns with the mission of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage in promoting arts and culture.<\/p>\n

The Ministry, he reassured, is keen to support associations and NGOs along with all those wishing to team up to promote the creativity sector in particular Artists.<\/p>\n

Such initiatives represent an opportunity to provide a platform to allow Artists continue evolve, he said. Mr Teeluck moreover invited other associations and NGOs to solicit the support of his Ministry to propose other types of artistic and culture-related projects.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Minister lauded the initiative of the Rotary Club of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill for the donation of a drug analyser to the Government which was handed over to the Prime Minister yesterday.<\/p>\n

The drug analyser, he commented, will assist Government in combatting the drug scourge as this fight is both the responsibility of the authorities and the civil society.<\/p>\n

The action of the Rotary Club of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill therefore demonstrates the commitment of the civil society and the population in this fight, he declared.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mr Authelsingh, spoke about the art competition which will be open till Friday 15 October 2021 and encouraged the participation of young people aged between seven to 25 years.<\/p>\n

The winners, he added, will be rewarded with cash prizes ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 10,000. A virtual exhibition will also be organised at a later stage, he announced. All works of art (paper, digital, visual, audio and video) for the competition must be submitted online (vidhish. beeharry@hotmail. com).<\/p>\n

A jury composed of professional and amateur Artists and Rotary representatives will designate the winners in November 2021 and the prize giving ceremony is scheduled during the same month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
