Africa-Press<\/a> – Mauritius<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>As part of the Mauritius Global Diaspora demonstration, which will be held next week in London, to demand the resignation of speaker Sooroojdev Phokeer and that of the Jugnauth government, a debate, focused on parliamentary democracy, took place this Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The three speakers, Kailash Purryag, former President of the Republic, Jack Bizlall, former parliamentarian and trade unionist, and Nad Sivaramen, journalist and Director of Publications of La Sentinelle, and the moderator of the debate, Covilen Narsinghen all came out in favor of a constitutional overhaul.<\/p>\n

in order to bring about the emergence of a Second Republic.<\/p>\n

To the question regarding Speaker Phokeer’s 11 remarks to MP Rajesh Bhagwan – \u201cLook at your face!\u201d – there was unanimity that the speaker disqualified himself and should no longer preside over parliamentary proceedings.<\/p>\n
