Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Cyclone Belal has left a trail of damage over the country and this morning as the cyclone warnings were waived by the Mauritius Meteorological Services, the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, visited several regions in the south of the island, namely Tyack and Batimarais, to review the situation arising in the aftermath of this severe tropical storm.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development , Dr Renganaden Padayachy, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, and the Parliamentary Private Secretary, Dr Muhammad Ismae\u0308l Rawoo, met several units of the Mauritius Police Force, including teams of the Special Mobile Force who were already on site and providing skilled manpower and specialised equipment for post-cyclone debris clearance of the roads.<\/p>\n

Mr Jugnauth then proceeded to Quartier Militaire, Providence and Nouvelle De\u0301couverte to oversee, in presence of the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, and Member of Parliament, Mr Yogida Sawmynaden, the damage caused by cyclone Belal in its wake across Mauritius.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that the priority for Government is to do all that is possible so that activities in the country can resume normally as soon as possible. He added that his heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by the torrential rains and victim of the damage caused by cyclone Belal.<\/p>\n

In view of the current situation, the Prime Minister, will also chair a meeting in presence of several Cabinet Ministers this afternoon in Port Louis.<\/p>\n
