Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Researchers have been urged to prioritise implementation research by conducting studies that identify and describe barriers hindering efforts to access health care interventions.<\/p>\n

The research implementation will lead to the successful deployment and utilisation of evidence-based approaches, thus improving the quality and effectiveness of health promotion, health services, and health care.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 3rd National Health Research Symposium with the theme Strengthening Implementation Research Capacities on Individuals and Institutions, Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe emphasised the importance of embracing and entrenching implementation research in the rollout of evidence-based health interventions.<\/p>\n

Mr Lelatisitswe encouraged all stakeholders to adopt implementation research in their efforts, highlighting its potential impact on other sectors due to the transferable nature of its theoretical frameworks and practices.<\/p>\n

The assistant minister said the global health community continued to battle with how to take proven interventions and implement them in the real world.<\/p>\n

\u201cChallenges such as the insufficient supply of drugs, shortage of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure, to support the rollout of health interventions and problems of community acceptance, can also be explored through implementation research,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that implementation research involves the scientific study of the processes used in implementing initiatives, taking into account contextual factors, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of health care.<\/p>\n

Mr Lelatisitswe emphasised the significance of implementation research in addressing problems hindering access to interventions and the delivery of services, underscoring its importance in health policy development.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he said implementation research, when led by decision-makers and integrated into policy and practice, enhances the relevance and applicability of empirical findings.<\/p>\n

Dr Tshepo Machacha, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, said the symposium provided an effective platform for academicians, researchers, and practitioners to share knowledge, collaborate, and explore cutting-edge technologies and advancements in healthcare. He emphasized the importance of applying the lessons learned to improve the quality of life..<\/p>\n
