Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mauritius Post Ltd (MPL) and the National Productivity Competitiveness Council (NPCC) for the training of MPL staff was signed, today, at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation in Ebe\u0300ne.<\/p>\n

The signatories were the Chief Executive Officer of MPL, Mr Vijaye Anand Ramchurn, and the Executive Director of the NPCC, Mrs Deveena Boygah. The Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin, and other personalities were present at the signature ceremony.<\/p>\n

Under the MoU, the NPCC will design, develop and deliver training to officers of MPL. The Minister deemed the MoU a significant milestone in the history of MPL as more than 800 personnel, including employees in Rodrigues, would be acquiring new competence and skills to better serve customers.<\/p>\n

He affirmed that this initiative was in line with the recommendations of the 10-year Restructuring and Strategic Plan for MPL, elaborated by Deloitte and which highlighted the necessity to invest in human resource development. As such, Mr Balgobin informed that around two percent of the total salaries budget of MPL would be dedicated to the training of employees.<\/p>\n

Minister Balgobin thus informed that some 450 Postmen and Assistant Postmen would, in the first instance, benefit from the agreement between MPL and the NPCC as they would be undertaking a training on Customer Service Excellence, Grooming, Delivery Standards and Discipline.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister, with a view for MPL to improve its service delivery and respond to the needs of its customers, it was equally important to invest in digitalisation, innovation, new products and services as well as the enhancement of the skills of the personnel.<\/p>\n

He recalled that MPL had already entered into collaboration with the Civil Service College which had been tasked to conduct relevant capacity building exercise for MPL staff.<\/p>\n
