Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Mohamed Salah was “out of order” for arguing with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on the touchline during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at West Ham United, says former Premier League striker Chris Sutton.<\/p>\n

Salah had been dropped for the game and clashed with Klopp as he prepared to come on as a 79th-minute substitute.<\/p>\n

The draw leaves Liverpool, who are out of the Europa League, five points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Sutton felt the incident did not reflect well on the 31-year-old, who is the Reds’ top scorer this season with 24 goals but has not been at his best in recent games.<\/p>\n

“I didn\u2019t like it but I think Mo Salah is the one who was out of order,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club.<\/p>\n

“He is no different to any of his Liverpool team-mates and the truth is his form hasn\u2019t been good since he has come back from the injury.<\/p>\n

“It is nothing against Salah and the brilliant player he has been at Liverpool. He has been phenomenal but I think there is a line and unfortunately for him, he crossed it.”<\/p>\n

Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, brought Salah to Anfield in June 2017 and he has consistently been one of his most influential players.<\/p>\n

But Sutton believes Klopp was well within his rights to choose the first XI he felt gave Liverpool the best chance of securing victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t live in the past,” added Sutton.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the here and now and Klopp decided to leave him out. That is his prerogative. He is the manager and Salah is no different to the rest of his team-mates.\u201d<\/p>\n

Salah seemed frustrated at something Klopp said to him as he was about to be brought on, and seemed to want to prolong the altercation before team-mates Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez shepherded him away.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, Salah declined interview requests, saying: \u201cThere\u2019s going to be a fire today if I speak.\u201d<\/p>\n

Salah’s contract at Liverpool runs out in summer 2025 and there has been speculation about his future – including talk of a possible move to Saudi Arabia – following the incident.<\/p>\n

However, Liverpool’s stance has not changed – the Egypt forward was not for sale before the West Ham game and that remains the case.<\/p>\n

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group recently appointed the club’s sporting director Michael Edwards as the company’s chief executive of football.<\/p>\n

Richard Hughes will also become the club’s new sporting director when he leaves his position as Bournemouth’s technical director at the end of the season and Salah’s future will be one of the things on their agenda.<\/p>\n

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman agreed with Sutton that the incident at West Ham did not reflect well on Salah.<\/p>\n
