At the May 1st rally, Navin Ramgoolam and Paul B\u00e9renger reiterated their commitment to building a new Mauritius.<\/p>\n<p>Navin Ramgoolam, who was the last speaker at the meeting, declared: \u201cIt\u2019s a human tide in Port-Louis. We\u2019re going to sweep everything away. Change is underway.\u201d According to him, \u201cPravind Jugnauth is desperate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>May 1st rally of PTr-MMM-ND alliance<\/p>\n<p>The PTr leader once again warned the public against \u201cthe possibility of using artificial intelligence against him\u201d. For him, his opponent\u2019s agenda \u201cconsists of launching personal attacks, which is what you do when you\u2019re desperate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>May 1st rally of PTr-MMM-ND alliance<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of his speech was the presentation of the measures he and his allies intend to implement, with the assurance that other measures will be added. These measures include<\/p>\n<p>an end to the depreciation of the rupee<br \/>\nLower petrol and diesel prices<br \/>\nLower electricity prices<br \/>\nLower medicine prices \u2013 the population will receive vouchers.<br \/>\nNo pensions or allowances will be cut\u2026<br \/>\nWidows and invalids will continue to receive their pensions in addition to the old-age pension.<br \/>\nWe will abolish the pension tax<br \/>\nNo Income Tax up to Rs 1 million and for young adults.<br \/>\nFree transport for all, including school vans<br \/>\nYou will be able to continue your studies with 3 credits.<br \/>\nMaternity leave will be extended to one year\u2026<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll introduce \u2018Menstrual Leave<br \/>\nWe will abolish the obligation to re-register each time you buy a car.<br \/>\nWe will reorganize Air Mauritius<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll give agriculture a helping hand<br \/>\nWe will publish the Land Drainage Master Plan.<br \/>\nNavin Ramgoolam maintains that: \u201cWe will have a real electoral reform with the obligation that a third of the candidates be of the opposite sex\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>May 1st rally of PTr-MMM-ND alliance<\/p>\n<p>The penultimate speaker was MMM leader Paul B\u00e9renger, who urged the Mauritian people to : \u201cRemain vigilant. There will be all kinds of electoral shenanigans\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Paul B\u00e9renger also spoke about the list of candidates, pointing out that \u201cnot everyone will be able to get a ticket. We ask those who will be deprived to understand that we can only grant 60 nominations\u201d. He also asked supporters not to believe everything written in the newspapers.<\/p>\n<p>May 1st rally of PTr-MMM-ND alliance<\/p>\n<p>Paul Berenger believes that \u201cthere will be other political developments in the future. We will win and Navin Ramgoolam will be Prime Minister. Whatever happens, it will be a Labour Prime Minister\u2026 That\u2019s a commitment. We need a \u00be majority to implement our program and to amend the Constitution\u201d. The ultimate mission of the PTr\/MMM\/ND alliance will be to save the country from Pravind Jugnauth,A policy dialogue meeting between the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Local Government and Disaster Risk Management, Dr Mohammad Anwar Husnoo, and the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, in view of the preparation of the 2024-2025 Budget was held, yesterday evening, in Port Louis.<\/p>\n<p>Outlining the priorities of the Local Government, Dr Husnoo stressed the need to enhance meteorological services, disaster management, and fire services. He recalled that during discussions with Dr Padayachy, the bolstering of these sectors through facility upgrades and reinforcement was proposed. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of taking preventive measures to prepare for future challenges and adversities.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing infrastructure concerns, Dr Husnoo outlined the substantial financing required to improve and fortify drainage systems. Given the prevalent adverse weather conditions and flash flood risks, proactive steps are imperative, he added.<\/p>\n<p>2024-2025 Budget &#8211; Policy Dialogue Meeting<\/p>\n<p>Another Policy Dialogue meeting was with the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin, and the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Balgobin underlined that he had a very fruitful meeting with Dr Padayachy adding that the latter was very attentive to the propositions put forth by his Ministry. He said that the propositions focused mainly on measures aimed at accelerating the digitalisation process across Mauritius and transforming it into a Digital Hub.<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of Government, he said, is to digitalise all sectors of the country so as to ease the lives of citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Renganaden Padayachy, also met the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Mr Alan Ganoo. The later said that consultations with the Finance Minister focused on priority measures for his Ministry such as road safety and the renewal of the bus fleet.<\/p>\n<p>2024-2025 Budget &#8211; Policy Dialogue Meeting<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that Government has invested massively in road infrastructure, sensitisation campaigns, education and dissemination of road safety tips through social media. He further highlighted that a Road Safety curriculum has been introduced in schools adding that students as from Grade 1 are being sensitised on road safety by some 700 trained Educators.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Ganoo indicated that last year, some 1,000 drivers were tested positive for drugs, and 3,000 drivers for alcohol consumption while driving.
