Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM) is pulling out all the stops for the mobilization that should be the last official function of Pravind Jugnauth’s government on September 29 at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre (SVICC) to mark the International Day of Older Persons.<\/p>\n

The dissolution of the National Assembly will have to take place subsequently, on October 3 at the latest, in order to avoid the by-election in Montagne-Blanche\/Grande-Rivie\u0300re-Sud-Est (No. 10).<\/p>\n

Since yesterday, Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo’s Ministry of Integration and Social Security has been mobilizing contacts with various seniors’ associations to ensure their participation in the rally.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, a meeting was held in the council chamber of the Port Louis municipality, bringing together the heads of several senior citizens’ associations with close ties to the MSM, to prepare the logistics that will be deployed to attract a large crowd to the SVICC.<\/p>\n

The watchword was to ensure that each of these associations mobilizes its troops to make this latest function a strong signal on the political chessboard and demonstrate that the country’s elders will rally behind the Prime Minister at the next elections to realize the Sun Trust’s ambition for a Pravind Jugnauth 3.0.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it’s not out of the question that the head of government will come forward with new promises regarding the Basic Retirement Pension, among other things.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Lakwizinn of the Prime Minister’s Office is busy finalizing the list of MSM candidates ahead of confirmation of the distribution of tickets with its partners and the quota to be allocated to Xavier-Luc Duval’s Parti Mauricien Sociale-De\u0301mocrate (PMSD).<\/p>\n

The parachuting of several government members into new constituencies is being carefully analyzed these days, as is the positioning of the new faces who will be in the running.<\/p>\n

As the weekend draws to a close, the information transpiring from the Treasury Building is that Pravind Jugnauth is juggling political discussions with his inner circle to fine-tune his political strategy, as well as the Unfinished Business on his agenda, such as the in-depth discussions with the Mauritius Turf Club, among others.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of the Sports Arena, scheduled for this Saturday, has been postponed until next week due to the Yaum-Un-Nabi celebrations on Monday. The PM is, as every year, expected to attend the official ceremony at Aleemiah College. Also on next week’s agenda is the symbolic delivery of 76 social housing units by New Social Living Development (NSLD) in Valetta.<\/p>\n
