Africa-Press<\/a> – Mauritius<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>From this Monday, the number of face-to-face school days increases.<\/p>\n

In fact, students in grades 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 will go to school three times a week while grades 5, 6 and 9 to 13, four times a day.<\/p>\n

Schools are therefore preparing to implement this new protocol.<\/p>\n

Annand Seewoosangkur, president of the Mauritius Head Teachers Asssociation (MHTA), says preparations are well underway but there would be some anxiety.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome schools don’t have the right infrastructure to divide the classes,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n

“So they will have to make do with the number of rooms they have.<\/p>\n

” In terms of the schedule, it is up to the directors of the establishments to work on the schedule.<\/p>\n

“50 to 55 minutes will be dedicated to each subject per day”, informs the president of the association.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Ministry of Education established new protocols on October 7.<\/p>\n

Thus, school officials should develop classroom seating plans and determine seating arrangements where possible.<\/p>\n

Morning assemblies may be organized subject to physical distancing standards and health measures in force.<\/p>\n

Ditto for physical education classes.<\/p>\n

The canteens will operate but under strict sanitary conditions.<\/p>\n

In addition, the National Education Counseling Service (NECS) will provide ongoing psychological support to schools.<\/p>\n

The cleaning and disinfection of the school grounds, water tanks, school buildings, canteens and classrooms must be carried out regularly.<\/p>\n

Wearing a mask remains compulsory at all times, except for pre-primary children or those who are exempt from wearing a mask for medical reasons.<\/p>\n

Schools should also ensure adequate hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene at all times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
