Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The 2025 PSB Russian Track and Field Championships wrapped up Sunday in the city of Kazan after four days of competition featuring over 700 athletes from across Russia.<\/p>\n

The championships at Kazan\u2019s Central Stadium included 44 medal events ranging from sprints to field events, with the final day highlighting triple jump and hurdles finals.<\/p>\n

New records set<\/b><\/p>\n

Fyodor Ivanov set a new Russian national record in the men\u2019s 400 meters hurdles, clocking in at 47.94 seconds.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old broke the decade-old mark of 48.05 seconds set by Denis Kudryavtsev at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.<\/p>\n

Another standout performance in the championships came from Vladimir Nikitin, winning the men\u2019s 10,000 meters in 27 minutes and 48.30 seconds.<\/p>\n

The BRICS Games winner in 5,000m and multiple-time record holder beat Sergei Ivanov\u2019s 27:53.12, set in 2008.<\/p>\n

International restoration hopes<\/b><\/p>\n

Russian Athletics President Petr Fradkov told a press conference during the championship that integrity education workshops were held covering anti-doping protocols, safeguarding, and transparent governance, as the federation hopes for international reinstatement.<\/p>\n

\u2018We believe that in the near future, there may be some decisions to get some of our athletes restored in some way. Our task is to prepare athletes who are competitive on the international arena when that day comes,\u2019 said Fradkov.<\/p>\n

Russian competitors have been barred from representing the country in international events since the 2015 revelation of state-sponsored doping.<\/p>\n

World Athletics lifted the doping suspension in 2023, but a ban tied to the Russia-Ukraine war remains in place.<\/p>\n
