Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong> <\/span>Sustainable, long-term collaboration between Mauritius and Seychelles was at the fore of discussions during a courtesy meeting held this afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment of Seychelles, Mr Pierre Laporte, met with the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing collaboration across key sectors.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Minister Laporte highlighted that discussions with Prime Minister Ramgoolam focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration, especially in light of the Middle East conflict, which is impacting both Mauritius and Seychelles through fuel supply challenges and pressures on the tourism sector.<\/p>\n

Mr Pierre Laporte also briefed the Prime Minister on the meetings he held with the Mauritian Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection, as well as with leaders from the private sector.<\/p>\n

He further stressed the importance of leveraging the Indian Ocean Commission not only as a political platform, but also as a driver for business and economic opportunities across the region.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he underlined the need for both Mauritius and Seychelles to make full use of the opportunities offered by the Southern African Development Community and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, in order to mitigate the adverse economic impact of the Middle East conflict on their economies.<\/p>\n
