Trainees from the \u00c9cole H\u00f4teli\u00e8re Sir Ga\u00ebtan Duval were honored for their outstanding performances in various culinary competitions. The ceremony, attended by notable figures including the Junior Minister of Tourism, celebrated the dedication and talent of the trainees, who have significantly contributed to Mauritius’s reputation in the hospitality sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong> <\/span>Young Mauritian culinary trainees of the \u00c9cole H\u00f4teli\u00e8re Sir Ga\u00ebtan Duval (EHSGD) were honoured, this morning in Eb\u00e8ne, following their remarkable performances at prestigious national and international culinary and mixology competitions held in February and March 2026.<\/p>\n

The ceremony aimed to honour the talent, dedication, and creativity of EHSGD trainees and training officers, while recognising the excellence, professionalism, and achievements of those who have proudly represented Mauritius on national and international platforms.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by the Junior Minister of Tourism, Mr Jean Sydney Pierre; the Chief Executive Officer of the Association des H\u00f4teliers et Restaurateurs de l\u2019\u00cele Maurice, Mr Jocelyn Kwok; officers of the EHSGD; as well as other distinguished personalities.<\/p>\n

In his address, Junior Minister Pierre commended the awardees, describing them as \u2018heroes\u2019 who are contributing to raising the profile of Mauritius in the field of hospitality. He emphasised that success is a journey rather than a destination, noting that excellence requires perseverance, especially during moments of doubt. He also acknowledged the vital support of teachers, parents and mentors who play a key role behind the achievements of the trainees.<\/p>\n

The Junior Minister further highlighted the importance of continuously striving for higher standards in the hospitality and tourism industry, stressing that past success does not guarantee future results. He encouraged trainees to remain committed to innovation and improvement, underlining Government\u2019s ambition to position Mauritius among the world\u2019s leading destinations for hospitality excellence.<\/p>\n
