Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Ariel Glaser Foundation has requested that AIM issue the following clarification regarding the article published by AIM, under the title “NGO accused of illegal dismissals.” AIM is publishing the statement in line with the general principles on the right of reply:

“At the outset, Fundação Ariel Glaser considers it necessary to correct a factual inaccuracy. Fundação Ariel Glaser is a Mozambican non-governmental organization, not a foreign organization, and it operates in close collaboration with the national health sector.

About the facts reported, the Foundation clarifies that the individuals mentioned in the article are not employees of Fundação Ariel Glaser. They are employed by CONTACT, a private employment agency, which is the entity responsible for the management of their employment contracts.

The contracts in question were entered into within the framework of a service agreement between CONTACT and Fundação Ariel Glaser, under which these workers were assigned to the activities concerned. In this context, the termination of the employment contracts results from their expiry following the end of that service agreement, in accordance with the applicable Mozambican labour legislation.

Fundação Ariel Glaser is, nevertheless, closely following this situation and reaffirms that the entire process is being conducted within the responsibilities of the entities involved, with institutional responsibility, respect for the dignity of the persons concerned, and in compliance with the applicable legal framework.

The Foundation remains committed to the continuity of health services in its areas of intervention, ensuring the provision of essential care to the communities it serves.
