President Daniel Chapo of Mozambique is on a two-day official visit to Ethiopia, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two nations. The visit, initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali’s invitation, focuses on assessing bilateral relations and discussing the political and economic landscapes of both countries and the broader African continent.

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The President of Mozambique is visiting Ethiopia from today to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, as well as to discuss the political and economic situation, according to a statement from the Presidency.

Daniel Chapo will be in Ethiopia at the invitation of the country’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed Ali, on an official visit that begins today and runs until Tuesday.

“The visit of the President of the Republic to Ethiopia (…) aims to strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation existing between the two countries, assess the state of bilateral cooperation, and address the political and economic situation of the two countries, the African continent and the world in general,” reads the statement from the Presidency of Mozambique.

Chapo will be accompanied, among others, by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Lucas; National Defence, Cristóvão Chume; Economy, Basílio Muhate; Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Albino; as well as the Secretary of State for Transport, Chinguane Sebastião Marcos Mabote.

Mozambique and Ethiopia have historically maintained diplomatic relations, fostering cooperation in various sectors. This visit underscores the importance of strengthening ties amidst evolving political and economic challenges in Africa. Both nations aim to collaborate on shared interests, enhancing regional stability and development through mutual support and partnership initiatives. The visit also reflects a broader trend of African leaders engaging in dialogue to address continental issues collectively.
