Africa-Press – Mozambique. Spain extended until 29 December restrictions on entry into the country of flights from nine southern African countries, including Mozambique, to stop the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
Restrictions are maintained on flights from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia to Spanish airports.
The measure, in force since 2 December, will be extended until midnight on 29 December (one hour less in Lisbon), a period that may be extended if necessary, depending on the spread of the pandemic and the decisions that the European Union may adopt.
Flights to Spain can only be made from these nine countries by citizens of Spain or Andorra, residents of both countries, or passengers in international transit to a non-Schengen country with a stopover of less than 24 hours without leaving the transit zone of the Spanish airport.
Exempted from this limitation are flights by state aircraft, search and rescue services, flights making a stopover in Spanish territory for non-commercial purposes to another country, flights exclusively for cargo, flights for positional and humanitarian, medical or emergency purposes.
This restriction does not apply to aeronautical staff required to carry out air transport activities.
