Africa-Press – Mozambique. Police in Inhambane yesterday detained a 38-year-old employee of the Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) on suspicion of defrauding the banks’ clients.

The accused allegedly took advantage of customers who asked him for help carrying transactions at the ATM and transferred money from their accounts into his own.

At the same time, he would associate the victim’s account with own his phone number, and from then on start making transactions, police spokesman Juma Dauto said.

The mans’ victims were mostly women whose husbands work in South Africa, and his last fraudulent transfer was for 12,000 meticais.
