Africa-Press – Mozambique. The district headquarters of Lugela, in Zambézia province, is at serious risk of being hit by a public network power outage as a result of soil erosion at energy transport stations.

The rain that fell over the weekend, cutting the road between Mocuba and Lugela, also affected many energy transport stations.

Power stations on the Magraze river, for example, could fail at any moment, depriving more than 30,000 residents of Lugela village of electricity.

The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, was at the site where the road was cut, to learn about efforts aimed at restoring traffic.

At the moment, road traffic between Mocuba and Lugela is interrupted. A contractor is currently building a detour to deal with traffic before undertaking the rehabilitation of the bridge over the Magraze.
