Africa-Press – Mozambique. Six more people have died of Covid-19 In Mozambique, and a further 801 tested positive, according to information released on Thursday by the Ministry of Health (MISAU).
Of the six deaths announced yesterday (Thursday, June 1), two occurred on the 29th June, two on the 30th June and two that day. This brings the total number of fatalities from the infection to 884.
Of the newly diagnosed individuals, 758 are Mozambicans, 15 foreigners, and 28 of unknown origin. All contracted the virus in Mozambique, MISAU says.
Maputo city diagnosed the largest number of cases (371), followed by Tete province (192). The two location had, in the last 24 hours, a positivity rate of 34.5% and 40.8% respectively.
The positivity rate for the country as a whole was 27.9%, with an accumulated positivity rate of 12.85%.
Mozambique has registered 77,205 positive cases since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Of these, 76,836 were the result of local transmission and 369 were imported.
The 37 new admissions and 18 discharges bring the tally of hospitalised Covid-19 patients to 199.
The good news is that the number of those recovered from Covid-19 rose to 71,491, as 286 more citizens, all Mozambicans, were declared free from the disease over Wednesday and Thursday.
This leaves Mozambique with 4,826 active cases.
