Africa-Press – Mozambique. Fourteen Muslims from Cabo Delgado who participated in the recent Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, want an end to terrorism.
The believers, who returned to Pemba on Sunday, say that praying for peace in Mozambique was one of the highlights of their pilgrimage.
Speaking to journalists at Pemba International Airport this Sunday after arriving home from the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, they emphasised that Islam is a religion of tolerance, love of neighbour and rejection of evil.
The believers said that they went to Mecca to pray to God, so that peace would return to the thousands of Mozambicans in Cabo Delgado who suffer from the actions of terrorists.
Of the 25 days spent in Saudi Arabia, five were dedicated to the Haj pilgrimage
In Islam, Hajj, also spelled Ḥadjdj or Hadj, is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must make at least once in his or her lifetime. The Hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam.
The Hajj pilgrimage started on July 7 and ended on Tuesday, July 12.
