INAE advises against the consumption of ‘Ruby’ vinegar

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Inspectorate for Economic Activities (INAE) has warned the public against consuming ‘Ruby’ brand white vinegar, due to its high acidity level.

Tests carried out at the National Laboratory of Water and Food Hygiene at the Ministry of Health (MISAU) revealed a 1.70% V level of acetic acid, contrary to the norm of 4% to 10%. The product is therefore deemed unfit for human consumption.

The INAE urges all consumers not to purchase the vinegar in question, in 350ml containers valid until 11-30-23, as consumption could cause tooth enamel corrosion, gastrointestinal discomfort, throat burns and adverse reactions with medicines.

The INAE advises anyone who has acquired the product to immediately declare its existence to the competent authorities, preferably the nearest INAE delegation, by phone on 1464, or by email at [email protected].
