Africa-Press – Mozambique. The government says that proposed new Labour Law, already discussed and harmonised by the Labour Consultative Council (CCT), will be approved later this year.

The new law, which has been under discussion between the government and social partners, including workers and employers, since last year, will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for consideration within days.

The revision aims to adjust the Labour Law to the country’s current stage of socio-economic development.

The news was announced by Minister of Labour and Social Security, Margarida Talapa, in Chidenguele, Gaza province, on Thursday (04-08), during the opening of the sector’s XXXII Coordinating Council, which takes place under the motto, “Management of Work for the Continuous Improvement of Services”.

“Regarding the revision of the Labour Law, I want to reassure Mozambican workers that it will be debated at the level of the Council of Ministers within days and then submitted to the Assembly of the Republic. Therefore, we want to ensure that the Law will be passed later this year,” she said.
