Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Commander General of Mozambique’s police force (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, said on Tuesday the bet on placing police stations in all administrative posts to end the “deficit” in law and order enforcement was winning.

“We want a every police post to have a platoon, so that we have greater capacity to prevent conflicts,” Rafael said on a visit to the Matalane Practical School, a police training establishment in Maputo province.

He said that the lack of police stations in several areas meant that they depended on district headquarters or even provincial capitals to maintain law and order.

The placement of more police stations and police officers, he said, could have a persuasive effect on crime and social conflict.

“With greater policing, the state can detect and eliminate conflict hotspots,” Bernardino Rafael added.
