Africa-Press – Mozambique. The United Nations (UN) congratulates Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on receiving an Honorary Doctorate awarded on Friday by Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), the oldest higher education institution in Mozambique, for his contribution on Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change.
According to the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mozambique, Myrta Kaulard, the award is a clear demonstration of his engagement at the highest level, in strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to risks arising from climate and natural disasters.
“I would like to congratulate His Excellency, President of Mozambique, on his Honorary Degree in biodiversity and his commitment as a champion on Disaster Risk Management in Africa by the African Union.
“We are very proud. We will work with your support, leadership and example at the highest level”, said Kaulard this Saturday (17) in Maputo speaking to press during the celebrations of the World Clean-up Day.
This is the second Honorary Doctorate granted to Nyusi. The first was in February 2018, by the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Switzerland, in recognition for his work to restore a lasting peace in Mozambique.
