Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique’s Maputo National Park has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mayotte Marine Natural Park and the Reunion Island National Marine Reserve, with a view to promoting the development of sustainable economic activities in the Mozambique Channel, a resource shared by all the three parks.
The agreement provides a space for the three parks to share best practices in terms of biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, artisanal fishing, social and solidarity economy, and to seek joint funding for initiatives.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Mar Nosso 2022, an event organised by France since 2014 and held from 24 to 30 September this year with the aim of connecting players in the development of Mozambique’s blue economy and partners from the Mayotte and Réunion Islands, with a view to preserving marine ecosystems, promoting the blue economy and security, and protecting maritime activities in the Mozambique Channel.
