Africa-Press – Mozambique. Two LNG tankers owned by BP are due to arrive in Mozambique, possibly on Thursday and Saturday, according to a report by Argus Media.
This suggests that they could be scheduled to load the first consignment of gas from the 3.4 million tonnes/year Coral floating natural gas liquefaction (FLNG) facility operated by Italian major Eni in Area 4 of the Rovuma basin.
According to the Argus Media report, the 173,600m3 British Listener and the British Sponsor, a vessel of the same size, were last week posted for arrival at Mozambique’s Pemba port – a few hundred kilometres southwest of the Coral FLNG project and the capital of the country’s Cabo Delgado province – on 13 and 15 October, respectively. The first carrier was sailing south in the Red Sea, while the latter was heading northwest in the Malacca Strait.
LNG production from the Coral platform is contracted to BP under a long-term agreement, with the facility yet to load its first cargo. A BP gas carrier – the 173,600m3 British Mentor – had headed to the liquefaction facility in August, but was diverted later in the month to Oman’s Qalhat export terminal, having anchored close to Coral for a few days in late August.
