Africa-Press – Mozambique. Twelve people died on Tuesday (July 20) in a shipwreck involving a vessel plying the Pemba-Ibo Island route in Cabo Delgado.
According to maritime authorities, the incident took place during the early hours of the morning.
The vessel, with 36 people on board, was also carrying four tons of humanitarian aid for displaced people living in the Quirimbas archipelago.
Fourteen persons were rescued alive.
Preliminary reports suggest excess load as a possible cause of the accident.
