Africa-Press – Mozambique. Interviewed by Jornal @Verdade about the strike by hundreds of employees at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), Minister Daniel Nivagara asked for “calm and patience, because there are teams that are working”.
Hundreds of UEM employees have been on strike since the early hours of this Monday (12-12) claiming two months of salary arrears and retroactive payments related to five months’ implementation of the new Single Salary Table.
“These are salary problems for part of the UEM workers,” the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Daniel Nivagara, admitted when confronted by the @Verdade. “The UEM has about 4,000 employees and only a part of them had problems on the payroll, but the matter is being duly dealt with.”
“We entered into a new process with the Single Salary Table, and there is a set of employee integration actions. This problem will be solved, because it is the government’s wish that all employees are properly framed and treated equally. We only ask employees to be calm and patient, as there are teams that are working in this direction,” Nivagara appealed.
“There are already many UEM employees who have been included (in the TSU); those who have not are a small part. It is a problem of framing and processing wages that will be solved, in principle, this year,” he added.
