The Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa has refused to hear the Mozambican Government’s request for a leave to appeal against the extradition of former finance minister Manuel Chang from South Africa to the United States, as part of the process of the so-called ‘hidden debts’ case.
“The application for leave to appeal is dismissed with costs on the grounds that there is no reasonable prospect of success in an appeal and there is no other compelling reason why an appeal should be heard.”, reads the order of the South African Supreme Court of Appeal to which Lusa had access today.
