Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) yesterday incinerated around 56.2 kilograms of various drugs seized in the city of Maputo.
The batch included 36 kilos of cocaine, 20 kilograms of cannabis sativa (suruma), one gram of methamphetamine and more than 10 kilograms of percussor chemicals., the chemical substances used for the production of narcotics, which were seized between April 2022 and January of this year.
SERNIC spokesman Hilário Lole noted that the seizure and incineration of the narcotics was the final outcome of various investigation and prevention actions aimed at limiting this type of crime.
“A large part of the drug was seized at Maputo International Airport, and 361 citizens arrested in connection with these crimes, of whom six are foreigners – one Angolan, one Tanzanian, one Congolese, one IIvorian, one South African and one Nigerian,” Lole detailed.
