Africa-Press – Mozambique. President of Renamo Ossufo Momade met the head of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the two reviewed cooperation between Mozambique and Switzerland, including issues relating to the demilitarization, demobilization and reintegration of Renamo’s residual forces, a press release sent to ‘Noticias’ reveals.
The implementation of the ‘DDR’ process, under the aegis of the government, has the support of Switzerland. The DDR covers the demobilization of former Renamo guerrillas and their social reintegration, as well as the closure of all bases of the former guerrilla movement. Currently, 15 of the 16 Renamo bases are closed, with only Gorongosa, in Sofala province, still to go.
