Cyclone Freddy is already influencing the weather in coastal areas in the centre and south of the country, where winds could reach 80 kilometres per hour with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour, waves reach heights of up to six metres and rain exceed 200 mm in 24 hours, with thunderstorms.

National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts for Wednesday (22-02), the 308th day of Public Health Emergency in Mozambique, predict cloudy skies, sometimes very cloudy, thunderstorms and showers or locally moderate light rain and light to moderate southwest to northwest winds, sometimes gusty, in the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula.

For the provinces of Tete, Zambézia, Manica and Sofala, generally very cloudy skies are forecast, together with thunderstorms and showers or light to moderate locally heavy rain and light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, sometimes with gusts.

In the provinces of Inhambane, Gaza and Maputo, INAM forecasts cloudy or very cloudy skies, thunderstorms and showers or locally moderate light rain and light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, sometimes with gusts.
