Dugongo to build US$192M cement plant in Nampula province

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambican company Dugongo Cimentos is planning to build a new plant in the city of Nacala-Porto, Nampula province, at an estimated cost of around US$192 million.

Meeting last week on Tuesday, February 28, with government authorities of Nampula to discuss the final aspects of consultations regarding the project, representatives of Dugongo Cimentos revealed that the factory would be able to produce about 6,000 tons of cement per day.

According to the coordinator of the Dugongo project in Nacala, Issufo Ali, it is estimated that the project will generate jobs for more than 600 people.

In turn, the provincial secretary of state, Jaime Neto, said that all necessary support would be provided for the construction of the factory to become a reality in the short term.

Currently, Dugongo Cimentos has only one factory in the country, in Maputo province, which can produce about 2,500 tons of cement per day.
