New LAM management led by Fly Modern Ark takes off today

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The new management responsible for the revitalization of Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) starts work today, according to Tuesday’s edition of the newspaper ‘Noticias’.

This is the international team led by South Africa-based Fly Modern Ark, appointed by the government within the framework of revitalising the image of LAM.

The South African team was presented to the current LAM managers last Thursday (13-04) by Minister of Transport and Communications Mateus Magala. The parties will work together for a period of six months or a year.

Minister Magala told Noticias that the South African company has not yet decided exactly how many aircraft to allocate to operations in Mozambique, explaining that it would depend on an up-to-date assessment of the airline’s needs and capacity.

According to the minister, reducing ticket prices is one of the main objectives of the national flag carrier’s rehabilitation and repositioning strategy.

“Usually, tariff reductions take place due to economies of scale and efficiency. Certainly, this has to be combined with good management within a favourable civil aviation regulatory environment. This is what we intend to achieve soon, so that passengers can benefit from greater access to LAM,” Minister Magala said.
