Africa-Press – Mozambique. The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, has addressed separate messages of condolence to his counterparts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, and the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, for the loss of hundreds of human lives and destruction of infrastructure as a result of recent torrential rains in both countries.
In the message addressed to the DRC president, Felix Tshisekedi, the head of state writes that it was with deep sadness that he received the news of the loss of more than 400 lives and destruction of social and economic infrastructure following torrential rains and floods that affected several areas of South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“In this moment of consternation, I would like to convey, on behalf of the people, the Government of the Republic of Mozambique and myself, our heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, to the people and Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and in particular the bereaved families and those affected by this calamity, wishing those injured a speedy recovery,” President Nyusi’s message reads.
To President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, the head of state wrote that he was deeply dismayed by the tragic news of the death of more than 130 people and destruction of socio-economic infrastructure as a result of intense rain causing flooding in several districts.
“In this moment of pain, I would like to express on behalf of the people, the Government of the Republic of Mozambique and myself, our feeling of condolence to Your Excellency Mr President, to the people, to the Government of the Republic of Uganda, the bereaved families and to all people affected by this calamity, wishing that the injured have a speedy recovery and that they return to family life as soon as possible,” the Mozambican president stresses in a note to which ‘Notícias Online’ has had access.
