Africa-Press – Mozambique. A collective photography exhibition called ‘Um Mundo para Todos Dividido (‘A World for All Divided’) can now be viewed at the Fortress of Maputo.
Seven Maputo based photographers offer a journey through the country, from the Rovuma to the Maputo river, addressing different social issues and aiming to challenge the audience over social change.
‘Um Mundo para Todos Dividido’ spreads over two exhibition rooms at the Fortress, and deals with topics such as social inequality, drug addiction, public transport in urban centres, armed conflict and displaced people, child labour, female quarry workers and coastal pollution.
The initiative, sponsored by the Embassy of Spain in Mozambique in partnership with the Fortaleza de Maputo, aims to encourage local photographers and others living in the country to amplify their voices on social issues such as forced displacement, child labour and the impact of climate change.
The exhibition features work by Alfredo Zúñiga, Dilayla Romeo, Júlia Mena, Júlio Dengucho, Lillian Benny, Ouri Pota and Yassmin Forte, and is curated by Honduran photographer Ariel Sosa.
The exhibition opened to the public on Thursday, May 18th and runs until July 16th.
