Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique’s State Holdings Management Institute (IGEPE), the entity that manages the state business sector in Mozambique, will audit the 2022-2023 accounts of 24 state-owned companies, the entity has announced.

In a notice published yesterday in the newspaper Noticias, IGEPE invites auditing companies to submit proposals to analyse the reports and consolidated financial statements of the state business sector.

The IGEPE also asks that “possible weaknesses in the process of consolidating state business sector accounts” be identified, and “recommendations be produced with a view to their improvement”.

The approximately 24 companies that will be subject to audit operate in the telecommunications, agriculture, oil and gas, health, services and transport sectors, the IGEPE explained.

Last year, the Mozambican government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to strengthen supervision and management of companies in the state business sector and improve debt control within the scope of a US$470 million IMF financial assistance programme stretching through to 2025.
