Africa-Press – Mozambique. A delegation from the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) visited Mozambique last week in order to participate in a meeting for the preparation of the Third Thematic Review Report on food security and natural disasters.

Received by President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi on Thursday or a consultation meeting, APRM representative Lydia Mutenda said that the upcoming forum was intended to find solutions to mitigate the impact of future natural disasters, as well as design ways to minimise the food insecurity plaguing African countries.

“With our visit to Mozambique, we wanted to understand how the country has been implementing mechanisms to mitigate some of the challenges that affect the population, as well as understanding the strategies used to combat food insecurity”, she explained.

In turn, the Mozambican Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Carla Louveira, stated that the APRM delegation was in the country to assess the stage of efforts that the government, private sector and other stakeholders are implementing with a view to responding to the challenges posed by natural phenomena.
