Africa-Press – Mozambique. The First Lady of the Republic, Isaura Ferrão Nyusi, is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), participating from today (16-06) in a meeting of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD)
The event in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, will last for three days, from the 16th to the 18th of this month.
Nineteen wives of African Heads of State will be present at a meeting that also marks the 20th anniversary of OAFLAD, an organisation that provides assistance to the most vulnerable groups.
In the past, OAFLAD was known as The Association of African First Ladies, under which name it acted against HIV-AIDS. However, as a way of reflecting the full scope of its aspirations and identity, it assumed its current name, this being the second annual meeting since the change.
The First Lady is accompanied on her visit by staff and colleagues from the Office of the Wife of the President of the Republic.
