Africa-Press – Mozambique. Minister of National Defence Cristóvão Chume says that the leaders and masterminds of the terrorism in Cabo Delgado are part of international syndicates dedicated to violent crime.
Minister Chume acknowledges that this connection between terrorists and international criminal syndicates makes it difficult to identify the actual motivation for attacks.
The Minister of National Defence on Monday visited Mocímboa da Praia and Palma districts to assess the level of security, reporting that it was under control there.
According to the minister, the district of Macomia now needs to reinforce security in response to local terrorist outbreaks.
Speaking in Pemba on Monday, Cristóvão Chume reiterated that the government would continue to build better security solutions in response to developing terrorist activity.
Minister Chume said that everything was being done to ensure that the events leading to the attacks in Mocímboa da Praia and Palma did not recur.
