Africa-Press – Mozambique. Insurer Austral Seguros closed its doors yesterday, following a court order issued in Maputo, reportedly for non-compliance with its obligations to customers, Notícias reports.
The seizure of the company’s assets took place under the direction of bailiffs in the early hours of the morning, with desperate customers looking on.
Some of the customers sought an explanation about what was happening, while others converged on the insurance company’s premises in the hope of renewing or concluding insurance contracts.
One anonymous Austral Seguros official told customers that, as soon as the problem was resolved, they would be asked if they wished to continue their contractual connections.
