Africa-Press – Mozambique. Cargo transporters from Zambia to the Port of Beira say they are accumulating losses due to the ban on truck traffic on the Samora Machel Bridge in the city of Tete, Noticias reports.
The National Roads Administration (ANE) has extended the ban on heavy goods vehicles crossing the bridge until January 12, against initial forecasts of it being lifted this Wednesday.
It is estimated that each container truck immobilised on National Highway Number Seven (N7) represents a daily loss of around 12,600.00 meticais (US$200).
Some truck drivers told ‘Noticias’ that the containers they transport are rented, and return deadlines are not being met because the trucks are being held up in the area around the city’s weighbridge.
