Africa-Press – Mozambique. The company Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) has presented its environmental and social management plan for 2024, addressing matters ranging from the rehabilitation of mining areas to the introduction of food processing equipment for residents and other pilot projects to be tested this year.
The presentation was delivered to members of the Montepuez district government, community leaders and civil society representatives, to whom MRM announced that it would this year rehabilitate 15 hectares of previously mined area.
This will involve replacing the soil and replanting native trees, as well as establishing a solid waste management and recycling project involving experts from Lúrio University (UniLúrio) and Rovuma University (UniRovuma).
