Cabo Delgado: Displaced clamour for land to cultivate in Nangua, Metuge

Africa-PressMozambique. Families displaced by terrorism in Cabo Delgado and now living in the Nangua resettlement centre in Metuge district, are clamouring for land to practice agriculture.

Sources have told Radio Mozambique that the support they receive from various institutions does not cover their needs, and they therefore need to grow food crops.

“There is a lot of suffering [from shortage of food]. We would like machambas, so we can grow food. The food they give us is not sufficient, but if they gave us land, we could produce our own food,” sources said.

The Nangua resettlement centre houses more than 1,190 families from the districts of Palma, Muidumbe, Macomia and Quissanga.
