Africa-Press – Mozambique. A Mozambique Airlines (LAM) plane collided with another aircraft during manoeuvring at Pemba airport, in the north of the country, on Tuesday.
No-one was injured in the incident.
According to the company, the plane was preparing for take-off from the capital of Cabo Delgado when its wingtip hit another plane.
The Maputo-bound passengers were forced to disembark and wait for another one plane to transport them to their destination.
A source at LAM told Lusa this Wednesday that it had sent a Boeing 737 with a new crew to Pemba, and the flight had continued normally.
The aircraft involved in the incident awaits a decision by authorities regarding its airworthiness.
In a statement, LAM clarified that the incident took place during “the movement to access the runway”, in which the LAM plane “touched the end of its wing with the end of another aircraft, which caused the interruption of the operation”.
“Occurrence assessment procedures, in compliance with operational safety procedures” have been activated, the note reads.
