Africa-Press – Mozambique. A Mozambican delegation led by the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga, is participating in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the AI for Good Global Summit 2025, being held in Geneva, Switzerland (July 7th to 11th).

The World Summit on the Information Society 2025 (WSIS+20) brings together international organizations, governments, academia, industry, and other stakeholders to review key challenges and achievements, opportunities and technological trends.

Minister Muchanga will leverage the platform to establish bilateral meetings with cooperation partners to strengthen ties and create synergies to achieve the objectives of the national governance agenda.

Among the topics to be addressed are the digitalization of processes and facilitating the implementation of public policies through ICTs;

The use of Artificial Intelligence to promote accessibility of public services to citizens, cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure, resilience of telecommunications networks and systems, facilitation of the digital identity process and data governance, promotion of the digital economy and e-commerce, and mobilization of resources to promote access to the internet and educational content.

At the meeting, the Mozambican delegation, which includes Helena Fernandes, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Communications Regulatory Authority, will share the country’s experiences and perspectives in the field of telecommunications and ICTs.

The event, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), will recognize and reward projects and innovations that leverage the power of Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to promote sustainable development and social well-being.
