Africa-Press – Mozambique. The head of Frelimo’s central assistance brigade in Nampula province, Filipe Paúnde, has said that the emergence of Venâncio Mondlane’s Anamola party does not pose a threat to his political party.

Speaking at a press conference, Paúnde instead characterised the emergence of another political party as positive for Mozambican democracy.

The senior Frelimo leader explained that it was his party that had decided to revise the Constitution of the Republic, allowing the country to adopt a multiparty system, with the aim of creating space for the emergence of new political parties.

“No party threatens us. The more parties, the better. It ii an example [te existence of Anamola and more parties]. An example of the democratization of our party,” Paúnde said.

The member of Frelimo Policial Commission is in Nampula province to assist the grassroots and monitor the implementation of the decisions of Frelimo’s top leadership.
