Africa-Press – Mozambique. Comoros champions US Zilimadjou have settled into Abeokuta, Ogun State, ahead of their preliminary round showdown with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.

The visitors arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of Thursday and quickly got down to business, holding their first training session later that evening at a private facility provided by the hosts.

The session was designed to help the team shake off travel fatigue and sharpen preparations for Sunday’s eagerly-awaited contest.

The first leg will be played at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, as Remo Stars’ Ikenne home ground remains under renovation. Interestingly, the reverse fixture is also scheduled to hold at the same venue on Friday, September 26, handing the NPFL champions a rare advantage of playing both legs on home soil.

A win for Remo Stars would see them set up a blockbuster tie against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, who earned a bye into the next round.

Elsewhere, Nigeria’s second CAF Champions League representative, Rivers United, will open their campaign on Saturday, September 20, with a tough trip to Kinshasa to face FC Les Aigles du Congo at the intimidating Stade des Martyrs.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Kwara United, winners of the 2025 President Federation Cup, will travel to Accra to lock horns with Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the return leg fixed for September 28 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.

Meanwhile, Abia Warriors are set for their continental debut as they welcome Mali’s Djoliba AC to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday before heading to Bamako for the reverse fixture a week later.

With four Nigerian clubs in action across the continent, excitement is building among fans eager to see how far the country’s representatives can go in this year’s CAF interclub competitions.
