Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) warned today of the possibility of strong winds with gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour and four-metre waves in the south of the country, including Maputo, in the late afternoon, urging caution.
According to the warning, the meteorological phenomenon is expected to affect some coastal districts in the provinces of Maputo and Gaza starting late this afternoon.
“Given the risk associated with strong winds,” the INAM warning recommends “taking precautionary and safety measures.” The alert remains in effect until late Friday morning.
INAM also warns that these conditions could cause rough seas, with waves reaching four metres in height during the same period.
Mozambique is considered one of the countries most severely affected by climate change in the world, cyclically experiencing floods and tropical cyclones during the rainy season, which runs from October to April.
