Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Caifadine Manasse, will take part in the 13th International Sports Forum “Russia — a Sporting Power,” which will be held on 5–7 November in Samara. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in Mozambique.
At a meeting on 1 October, Russian Ambassador to Mozambique Vladimir Tatarov and Manasse discussed the minister’s participation in the forum. The parties also reviewed the state and prospects of Russian-Mozambican co-operation in the field of youth policy and sports.
“Manasse stressed the special nature of relations between Moscow and Maputo, whose history began even before Mozambique gained independence, noted the valuable contribution of the USSR to the political and economic development of his country, and expressed his readiness to work together to develop bilateral co-operation in areas so important for Mozambique,” the embassy said.
The International Sports Forum “Russia — a Sporting Power” is held in accordance with a decree of the Russian president and with government support. One of its main themes is the development of youth and children’s sports. The event is organised by the Roscongress Foundation. More than 3,000 delegates are expected to attend. The forum venues will be the Samara Arena and the Vladimir Vysotsky Sports Palace.
In July, Russian diplomats held a friendly chess match with players from Mozambique to mark the 50th anniversary of Russian-Mozambican diplomatic relations.
